What is Homeopathy…?
Homeopathy is a medical science introduced in 1796, by German physician and scientist Dr. Samuel Hannemann. Homeopathy is an FDA approved gentle; safe; and natural form of medicine, which is highly effective for all age groups including infants; children; pregnant women; nursing women and elderly. Homeopathic medicine according to the World Health Organization (WHO) is the second largest type of medicine in the world. It is used successfully by millions of people around the world.
Homeopathy is distinct when compared to other modes of medicine as its fundamental principles are directed toward treating the root cause of the ailment. Modern medicine commonly treats or suppresses individual symptoms without taking into consideration the origin of the disease; this leads to symptoms/diseases re-occurring or even worsening.
Remarkably Homeopathy is prepared in such a sophisticated manner that it constitutes nanoparticals, which according to various research studies have been found to be highly effective in treating disorders at a much deeper level.
Homeopathic treatment aims to heal the patient on an emotional, mental and physical level; cultivating self patience, self perception and self reflection.
Metaphysics is a branch of science that understands diseases and circumstances in relation to the entire universe.
Every thought that we have has an effect on our mind, body and universe. We discuss emotional trauma/shock/upset and how it affects the mind and various cells and organs in the body.
This approach spends minimal time on discussing trauma and more time on questioning WHY we have the condition/pain. Once we understand why we have a particular condition we can than move forward, release pain and begin the healing process.
Ayurveda meaning “the science of life” provides us with knowledge of disease prevention, living in harmony with nature and the seasons and how to eradicate the root cause of disease if it does occur.
Ayurvedic principles originated more than 5000 years ago, many homeopathic principles have their roots in Ayurveda. Ayurveda encourages the preservation of health by maintaining balance in one’s life by conscious thoughts, eating habits, lifestyle and the uses of complementary medicines. This balance is usually disturbed by internal and external stressors which include ones emotional state, diet, seasons, weather, physical trauma, work as well as family relationships. After in-depth analysis of these factors, the doctor can than aid patients in identifying and rectifying the root cause of their condition.
The three Doshas/energies
Ayurveda recognizes that each person’s constitution is made up of 3 doshas/energies, namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha. According to Ayurvedic principles the building blocks of life constitute the five elements which are found in all living things- ether, air, fire, water and earth. Although this foundation unites all humans, the expression of those elements through the doshas is what gives rise to our different constitutions. The appearance of the three doshas and in what proportion is what makes each person unique. Imbalance of the doshas brings about disease. The Vata dosha is composed of Space and air, it governs breathing and movement. Vata in balance promotes creativity and flexibility, out of balance promotes coldness, anxiety and fear. The Pitta dosha is composed of fire and water, it governs metabolism and digestion. Pitta in balance promotes understanding and intelligence; out of balance it arouses anger, hatred and jealousy. Kapha is composed of earth and water; it governs the body’s structure (bones, muscles, cells). Kapha moisturizes skin and lubricates joints; in balance it promotes love, calmness and forgiveness; out of balance its leads to greed, envy and attachment.
These doshas can be kept in balance by following a healthy daily routine in accordance with the body’s natural biological clock.
The Ayurvedic daily routine
The Ayurvedic daily routine is fundamental in the achieving optimal health and vitality, this includes optimal time of awakening (4am-6am), optimal time of sleeping (8pm -10pm), times of eating (main meal 11am-2pm (strongest digestion period), drinking water upon rising/herbal teas, bowel evacuation, bodily cleansing/bathing (cleansing the 5 senses eyes, mouth (tongue cleaning), nose, ears, body), various oil application, use of essential oils, pranayama/breathing and meditation, enjoyable exercise, gratitude for life.

“’As is the food so is the mind, as is the mind so is the behaviour, as is the behaviours so is the health”
Dr Ramsammy has special interests in digestive conditions and food intolerance/allergies. According to her, diet is very individualistic, while one diet may be beneficial to person A, the same diet can be detrimental to person B. “It’s not just about eating healthy; it’s what you eat, when you eat and how you eat, and your state of mind during eating”.
Many mental and physical health problems are diagnosed or labelled as “unknown/idiopathic”, because of adverse food reactions (Allergies or food intolerances).
Food intolerances
Some food intolerances can be detected in a consultation, however many are not, for this reason food intolerance test services are provided, which clearly identify food disturbances.
Symptoms of food intolerance include, skin problems, fatigue, IBS, GERD, nausea, joint pain, chronic respiratory conditions, sinusitis, chronic headaches and autoimmune disorders, depression, anxiety.
Allergies
Symptoms to these foods are much more severe and tests need to be sent to a blood laboratory to test for reactions. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, swelling and itching of palate/ mouth/ throat/ skin.
